10 Gifts for the Motorcycle Loving Guy (or Gal) in your Life

1984 Honda Nighthawk 650 CB650SC

If you are looking to get a gift for a friend or family member that loves motorcycles, hopefully this post will help. It will give you some ideas what a motorcyclist would like (or actually use) in a variety of price ranges. These are in no certain order, just what came to mind when thinking what I would like to get. The person in mind might already have some of these things, but there is never harm in having a extra set of ear plugs or gloves. So, without wasting anymore time, lets get to the list!

Battery Tender

This is nice to have so the battery in the motorcycle can be maintained while it is in storage. This can also be used on riding lawn mowers, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc. This devices maintains the battery by very slowly charging the battery and keeping the battery charged. It is not good for most batteries to just sit and not be used. The basic Battery Tender will run you $20 dollars and up, depending on how many fancy features you would like.

Cleaning Kit

A cleaning kit is wonderful for a motorcyclist to own because we like to keep our rides looking as good as possible. It also gives us something to do in the winter months, when we would like to be riding. These products also help prolong the quality of the bike. For example: The leather treatment would work well for the seat, but also can be used on the leathers they wear, like jackets, vests, or gloves. The metal cleaner helps by keeping a protective coating over the metal to prevent rust. The kit above usually runs for about $30.

If you are interested in the Meguiar’s Motorcycle Care Kit you can find it on Amazon.com.

Spare Set of Gloves

It is never a bad idea to have a extra set of gloves and they can be a inexpensive gift. They could use it as a set of backup gloves or use them for passengers that they might have. Gloves are a higher wear item and are usually replaced every few years. You can pick up a basic set of leather gloves online for $25-ish. I have a set of the gloves pictured above and I have not had any issue with them. All you would need to do is find out what size you would have to get. But you can shop around and find a style that they would like.

Phone / GPS Mount

This will make riding a motorcycle an even greater experience than what it already is. This allows a phone or GPS to be mounted to the handle bars. Which is fantastic when you get lost, you can just mount your phone with google maps and find your way back home. This RAM system also has a lot of different attachments that use the same mounting hardware. Which means they could connect a cup holder or camera to the same system. This one is a bit more pricey at $50, but it is well worth it. The X-Grip holds my Galaxy S6 or iPhone 8 without any issues. This addition has allowed me to take the bike to new places without fear of getting lost. And spending more time on the bike is what every motorcyclist wants.

Guardian Bell

A guardian bell is a small bell that is suppose to hang on the lowest part of the motorcycle and keep the rider safe. According to the legend, the ringing bell frightens the road demons and keeps the motorcycle and the rider safe. It also says that if a guardian bell, is given as a gift to the biker, will increase the effectiveness of the bell. This may not be for everyone, but it is a small $15 gift that comes in many designs to show that you care about their safety.

Roll Up Tool Kit

A roll up tool kit is nice to have, because who doesn’t like tools? What makes these tools different from the tools in your toolbox are these are compact and are suppose to be on the bike at all times.

Almost every bike comes with a set of basic tools that can be accessed if the bike were to break down on the side of the road. The reason why you would buy new tools is because the tools that come with the bike are usually really cheap or  have been lost. A lot of old bikes, if you buy them used, are missing these tool kits.

The only big thing you need to look out for is if the bike is imperial or metric. If you have no idea what that means it is OK. Harley Davidson and Indian are imperial and pretty much everything else is metric. So if they have a Honda or Suzuki they will need a metric tool kit. You can find a wide range of kits that start at $50 and go up from there.

Branded Apparel

You can never go wrong getting someone a hoodie or t-shirt of the brand of bike they ride. We usually like to have a few articles of clothing that show the world what we like. In my case that would be Honda. Harley Davidson riders also love to wear HD branded gear. If you want to get a idea of designs, you can go online or go to a dealership to see what they have. This is one that you may have to spend some more time on deciding what you think they would like. In my experience, Hoodies usually run around $50 and t-shirts $25. You could also look into hats or gloves they could use off the bike. This is a simple gift that you really can not get wrong. (unless you get the wrong motorcycle branded shirt)

Biker Patches

This one you will have to be a little careful about, only because some patches mean things to other biker groups that they could take offense too. But as long as it is not a biker gang related image you should be fine. You can find venders selling patches online or at some bike nights at restaurants. If you are unsure what the patch means you can always ask the attendant if it would be appropriate for what you want. But if the motorcyclist in your life has a vest or jacket they might like to add some patches to show off their own taste. I added a Honda wing patch to the shoulder of my leather jacket.

Small Riding Accessories

Some small things you could get include ear plugs, sunglasses, bandannas/face protectors or cargo nets. These things are usually very cheap and get used more than you think. Ear plugs help keep wind noise down, allow us to still hear things, and protect our hearing. Sunglasses are a given since we do not have a sun visor on the bike. Bandannas or face/neck protectors keep bugs, wind and rain off of us to keep us more comfortable. And cargo nets allow us to tie stuff down to our rear seat or luggage rack, since we do not have a trunk. Things like these would make a good stocking stuffer and they will be glad they have those simple comforts when they least expect it.

Home Decor

Last but not least you can get them something that they can use in the house like a motorcycle shaped pizza cutter! Or a motorcycle themed sign, salt and pepper shakers, wine holders, clocks, belt buckle, etc. This way they can be surrounded by motorcycles when they are not actually on one. Plus some of the stuff you can find on Amazon is really cool. Just try to look for something that they need or want and see if there is a motorcycle themed version of it. (Who wouldn’t want biker themed garden gnome?)

Whatever you decided to get I’m sure that person will like whatever you get them. One last quick piece of advice, if nothing above seems like it would work, you can always just go with a classic gift card or cash. I hope you enjoy shopping for your friends or loved ones.
